Questions and answers
Funta Exchange Office: what is the euro rate today?
According to the exchange rate list from 31/10/2026, Funta Exchange Office buys euros at 118.00 and sells them at 118.99 dinars.
How far may an exchange office deviate from the NBS middle rate?
For the euro there is a legal limit: the buying rate in an exchange office may not be lower, and the selling rate may not be higher, than the official NBS middle rate by more than 1.25%. At the middle rate for 01/11/2026 (117.5367), this means an exchange office must buy euros at no less than 116.07 and sell them at no more than 119.00 dinars. The rule is set by the National Bank of Serbia, has applied since 1 January 2019 to authorised exchange offices and the public postal operator, and does not apply to banks.
Does the limit also apply to other currencies?
No. The ±1.25% band is prescribed only for the euro. For the dollar, franc and other currencies, the exchange office sets its rates based on the cash exchange rate list of the bank it has a contract with, so the differences between exchange offices can be larger. For these currencies it pays to compare rates.
May an exchange office charge a commission?
Not for a regular exchange. Since December 2025, exchange offices may not charge a commission when buying or selling genuine banknotes in circulation. A commission is allowed only when buying damaged banknotes or banknotes no longer in circulation, and its maximum percentage must be displayed in the exchange office. If an exchange office applies a euro rate outside the legal band, you can report it to the National Bank of Serbia.
Do exchange offices have a fixed rate?
No. An exchange office sets its own rate list and may change it during the day, so the rate can differ from morning to afternoon. The rate on the list is the one the exchange office must not go below when buying or above when selling; for larger amounts, an exchange office may offer a better rate, within the range between its buying and selling rate. It is worth asking for a better rate before exchanging a larger amount.
Is the rate better in an exchange office or in a bank?
It depends. For the euro, exchange offices must stay within the legal band of ±1.25% around the NBS middle rate. Banks set their rates themselves and may offer their clients a better rate than the one on the public list (e.g. for a foreign currency account or in mobile banking). Compare the published lists in the comparison table, and for a larger amount also check your own bank's offer.
How often are exchange office rates updated?
Every 30 minutes, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The rate at a particular location may differ, so confirm it at the exchange office.
